Copenhagen, Denmark – Sophion Bioscience A/S signed an agreement to join Biolin Scientific, a Swedish materials science company. Sophion Bioscience, a global leader in the automated patch clamp field, represents an extension for Biolin into the life science space. Biolin Scientific develops, manufactures and markets analytical instruments for research, development, quality control and clinical diagnostics. Biolin’s largest market niche is nanotechnology, primarily materials science and biophysics.

The acquisition combining the two Scandinavian companies is expected to close during the third quarter of 2011.
