Spectris today announces that Martha B. Wyrsch will join the Board as a non-executive director with effect from 1 June 2012. Martha is currently President of Vestas Americas, a position she has held since June 2009. Vestas Americas is a subsidiary of Vestas Wind Systems A/S, which is listed on the NASDAQ OMX in Denmark. She is also a non-executive director of SPX Corporation, a company quoted on the New York Stock Exchange.

Before joining Vestas, Martha was President and CEO of Spectra Energy Transmission. She was also a director of Spectra Energy, Inc and Spectra Energy Partners, both quoted on the New York Stock Exchange between, respectively, January and March 2007 until October 2008. She was also a director of Spectra Energy Income Fund, quoted on the Toronto Stock Exchange, between January 2006 and October 2008. Previously she held the position of President and CEO of Duke Energy Gas Transmission and prior to this Vice President and General Counsel of Duke Energy.

Announcing the appointment, John Hughes, Chairman of Spectris, said: “I am delighted that Martha has agreed to join us. She will bring significant knowledge of the energy industry, and of the US market generally, to our discussions and her skills will be a valuable addition to our Board.”
