Toray Announces 3D-Gene(TM) Competition Award 2010
TOKYO – Toray Industries, Inc. (TOKYO:3402) announces a competition award for groundbreaking research that uses DNA microarray analysis. The award is open for every researcher, an important part of whose study plans, consist of gene expression analyses. The winners, who hope to collaborate and develop the analysis with their research plan, get the 3D-Gene™ award.
3D-Gene™ is a super-sensitive microarray. Toray has succeeded in development of a DNA microarray substrate with high sensitivity, high reproducibility/quantification and high speed. It is based on its unique technologies such as an agitation method during hybridization using microbeads and a substrate with special configuration and gene spotting technology using nano-level control of molecules. 3D-Gene™ technology is contributing to the actualization of tailor-made medical treatments by shedding light on a new life phenomenon. It is also making possible to gain more gene information from the least amount of samples through the production of the DNA Microarray for research purposes.
The award winners will get DNA microarray analyses with 3D-Gene™ matched to each winner’s research plan and a research grant of $2,000 specially for the sample preparation.
The award winner will send their samples to Toray for the analysis. The whole microarray analysis will be done by Toray in Japan (basic data analysis is included).
Applications for this award will be accepted until December 10, 2010.
