Tosoh Announces Establishment of Sales Office in Beijing

Tokyo, Japan—Tosoh Corporation has established a sales office in Beijing as a branch of its

wholly owned subsidiary Tosoh (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., and commenced business on October 9, 2009.

The new office was established to handle Tosoh (Shanghai)’s burgeoning operations in northern

China. As part of Tosoh’s overall strategy to expand operations in China, Tosoh Shanghai is

focused on promoting electronic and specialty materials, packed columns for high-performance

liquid chromatography and separation media, as well as basic and fine chemicals. The new branch

will better facilitate growth and play a vital role in the introduction of new products and technologies

while also providing technical support for existing ones. The branch will also explore new business

opportunities while strengthening present sales routes.

The Beijing branch will be under the leadership of the general manager of Tosoh (Shanghai),

Takafumi Kiuchi, along with an on-site vice-branch manager, Mingxiang Pan. Tosoh (Shanghai) has

achieved exceptional growth since its establishment in 2004 and is expected to reach sales of ¥4.6

billion in fiscal year 2010, ending March 31, 2010. The total number of employees is 24.

“In view of current market development, Tosoh feels it is necessary to establish a branch in Beijing

to better service customers while at the same time promoting growth strategies in China. We are

seeing rapidly increasing demand in business sectors and believe this move is essential to

strengthening our sales structure in northern China,” said Takafumi Kiuchi.

Tosoh is dedicated to achieving growth overseas and continues to shift its strategic emphasis to

generate higher consolidated returns from a more tightly integrated Tosoh Group worldwide.
