Unity Scientific Process Sensors and CHOPIN Technologies at IFT19

Unity Scientific®, Process Sensors Corporation®, and CHOPIN Technologies to showcase time and cost-saving analyzer solutions for food processing at IFT19

New Orleans, LA – Unity Scientific, Process Sensors Corporation (PSC) and CHOPIN Technologies – all KPM Analytics companies – will present their advanced analyzer solutions for food applications at IFT 2019, booth #418 June 3 – 5, 2019 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, LA. Used for process and quality control in cereal, snack & baked goods, milling, dairy and other food processing applications, the solutions can improve product quality, help maintain brand integrity and reduce costs.

Available Summer 2019, the CommUnity™ Networking Suite from Unity Scientific will be previewed at IFT. This cloud-based program for the remote management of SpectraStar™ NIR (Near Infrared) Analyzers is available from any web browser, allowing companies to centralize product configuration, streamline sample data reporting and view diagnostic results for all instruments on their network. Customers can obtain maximum performance from their NIR analyzers, driving down production costs and improving product quality, with the efficiency and consistency delivered by CommUnity.

Fully compatible with CommUnity, the SpectraStar XT At-line and Laboratory NIR Analyzer for food, agriculture and ingredient applications will also be presented at IFT19. Robust and easy-to-use, the SpectraStar XT produces accurate, repeatable results for moisture, fat, protein, total sugar and other properties from samples at any stage of the process in just 30 seconds.

Available in ready-to-use analyzer packages for many applications, the XT is pre-configured with robust calibrations and sample handling accessories for plug and play operation. Patented TRUE ALIGNMENT® Spectroscopy technology keeps the XT automatically aligned to reference standards, ensuring peak accuracy and consistent performance. All SpectraStar XTs are manufactured at Unity Scientific’s global headquarters in Milford, MA USA.

Process Sensors Corporation will demonstrate the new MCT469-SF Food Grade On-line NIR Sensor, featuring a rugged IP69-rated enclosure that withstands complete washdowns for years of reliable operation. The fully sealed enclosure enables faster and more efficient cleaning and features a sanitary design with no niches to minimize debris accumulation and microorganism ingress. The MCT469-SF accurately measures moisture and oil or protein and is simple to use, easy to install and requires no routine maintenance or re-calibration.

PSC will also preview the new QuikCheck-BCU (Baking Contrast Unit) Analyzer used for complete control of the baking process. In less than 10 seconds the QuikCheck-BCU simultaneously measures BCU, moisture and oil/fat content, enabling tighter control of baking specifications, more consistent product appearance and reduced waste. Operators can quickly test samples from multiple processing lines within minutes thanks to the storage capacity for up to 100 unique product calibrations.

CHOPIN Technologies will be showcasing the RHEO F4 analyzer which determines the characteristics of dough during the proofing (fermentation) process to aid in product formulation for both wheat flour and gluten-free products. The RHEO F4 measures the production and retention of carbon dioxide, as well as the volume and tolerance of the dough during proofing in a single test. The volume of the proofed product (breads, brioches…) depends on both the carbon dioxide production capacity from the yeast and the ability of the dough to retain this gas while it continues developing. Applications include but are not limited to: Determining the optimal time for products to be placed in the oven; assisting in the development of gluten-free products; analyzing the changing fermentation properties of frozen dough; analyzing entire dough formulas containing sugar, fat or dietary fiber; verifying yeast activity; and evaluating the impact of additives or the specific action of enzymes.

CHOPIN will also demonstrate the Mixolab 2 which determines the characteristics of dough – as well as the quality of starch and protein – during mixing. The Mixolab 2 provides millers and bakers with rapid information relating to starch quality and the conformity of flours, enabling consistent quality production.

In addition to these exciting product offerings at IFT 2019, there has been much industry buzz from KPM Analytics, as they just closed on two new acquisitions to enhance their stable of companies: Sensortech Systems and Sightline Process Control are both new additions to the KPM team. Sensortech delivers proven near infrared resonance (NIR) and radio frequency (RF) technology, used for process control for real-time moisture measurement in a variety of industries. Sightline provides 3D color vision and automated inspection systems, designed to improve product quality, increase line productivity and reduce operating costs across the food production process.
