With Hemobox® 5, Stiplastics enriches its dedicated product range for transporting biological samples

Beauvoir – Stiplastics, an industrial SME which designs, develops, manufactures and markets technical products and innovative devices principally made of injected plastic material, particularly for the healthcare market, launches the fifth generation of its Hemobox® carry case and associated accessories.

A case which is continually evolving to offer enhanced safety and productivity

The first Hemobox® case was created in 1991 and, since then, Stiplastics has continually developed it to respond to the needs of analysis laboratories and the requirements set out in biological sample handling and transportation standards.

Several features of this latest incarnation, Hemobox® 5, stand out:

• The quality and sturdiness of its triple packaging ensure perfect sealing, rigidity and shock resistance.

• Its compactness means that it is easier to handle.

• Its ergonomy means that it is easy to open without force.

• Its stability in the open position makes it easier to use the built-in preparation tray.

• Productivity is boosted thanks to its storage rack, which offers a real space saving in terms of storage and also ensures optimum conditions for transporting biological samples when used in the brand new, flexible isothermal carry case offered by Stiplastics.

• Hemobox® 5 therefore offers maximum effectiveness and practicality throughout the entire pre-analytical process.

A completely customisable range

Hemobox® 5 is available in five main colours and can be personalised (even for small series) with the laboratory name and logo. There are three types of customisation catering for different requirements and budgets:

by means of relief engraving on the bottom of the case; IML label (full colour); or adhesive label.

This is a valuable advantage at a time of fierce competition between laboratories.

“Our research department and design team are committed to making our new carry case even more practical and efficient: Not only by achieving a compact design and intuitive ergonomy, but also by using high-quality materials in its manufacture. The aim of the accessories that we have designed is to make the work of laboratories and individuals taking samples easier, whether they are for the storage, use or transportation of our cases.

We always strive to ensure maximum safety levels complying with, or even anticipating, the biological sector’s directives. This is the case for our detachable ABS cover, which can be cleaned/disinfected, and our isothermal carry case, which brings together an insulating foam and a metalised coating but also spaces for cool packs,” explained Jérôme Empereur, Managing Director of Stiplastics.

About the range

The Hemobox®6 offer currently comprises not only:

• Hemobox® 5, Hemobox® 4 and Hemobox® 1 biological sample carry cases

• the transport rack for the Hemobox® 5 case

• the flexible isothermal case

• urine sample pots with transfer nozzle

• double-pocket carry bags

• Stiplastics now also distributes all of these products directly, in order to reduce the administrative burden on laboratories.

About Instruction P650

Instruction P650 concerns the transportation of biological samples by road. It broadly covers:

the use of “good quality and sufficiently sturdy” triple packaging under normal transport conditions and common transhipment incidents, with absorbent, chocking and the same characteristics as for Instructions P620 or P602;

the labelling on the external packaging with marking of the “Biological Substance Category B” UN 3373 identification no. and the name, address and telephone number of the person responsible for the shipment, to be attached in the event of an incident.
