AMETEK Acquires Hardness Tester Company

Newage Testing Instruments is typical of AMETEK’s string of instrument acquisitions: a small company with complementary technologies for growing markets. Based in Southampton, Pennsylvania, Newage Testing Instruments was formed in 2000 through a management buyout of the Testing Instruments Division of NewAge Industries

Paoli, PA 2/11/08—AMETEK has purchased Newage Testing Instruments, a manufacturer of hardness testing equipment. Newage will join AMETEK’s Measurement and Calibration Technologies division. AMETEK Chairman and CEO Frank S. Hermance stated that Newage’s “hardness testing equipment and technology complements our Lloyd Instruments universal materials testing machines and broadens the range of materials testing solutions we can provide and support through our global sales and service network.” AMETEK noted that the company’s products will help it meet demand for the measurement of very thin materials, small parts and micro-structures in material surfaces.
