In June, John Wiley & Sons acquired SimBioSys, a provider of scientific-software tools that facilitate the drug-discovery process and a pioneer in the field of computer-aided retrosynthetic analysis.
Cresset appointed CloudScientific as a Chinese distributor in July.
Syapse raised $10 million in Series B financing, led by Safeguard Scientifics.
Simulations Plus agreed in July to acquire Cognigen, a provider of clinical trial–data analysis and reporting, for $7 million in cash and stock. The business is expected to add $5 million to Simulations’ revenues in the coming fiscal year. Cognigen President Dr. Thaddeus Grasela was appointed president of Simulations.

Product Introductions
SAS introduced the Life Science Analytics Framework, enabling clinical researchers to instantly query and analyze data in the cloud. It combines features of SAS Drug Development and SAS Clinical Data.
Genedata released Genedata Screening 12 in June. It features capabilities for data analysis from surface plasmon resonance, thermal shift, and combination and panel screens.
PerkinElmer launched ChemBioDraw Ultra, a digital-drawing tool with the ability to directly launch a search via a SciFinder button.
Optibrium introduced Sentira, a desktop application that provides visualization and analysis of compound data.
Certara released Muse Invent with new virtual synthetic-chemistry capabilities.
