Abbott Expands LIMS Business
Since Abbott acquired STARLIMS in 2010 (see IBO 3/31/10), STARLIMS has added more than 150 customers, according to the company. Recently, the company partnered with Dovèl Technologies to implement a LIMS at the FDA’s Office of Regulatory Affairs to serve around 825 users.
Abbott Park, IL 3/2/12—STARLIMS Technologies, an Abbott business, has purchased several distribution partners, including French distributor Varilab, two Spanish businesses, a Dutch company, and its Israeli distribution partner. The company has also established STARLIMS Germany to provide direct support for German and Swiss customers. “With these acquisitions, we now have more than 100 experienced LIMS engineers in the region allowing us to better serve our fast growing European customer base,” commented Isaac Friedman, head of STARLIMS.
