Canberra Sale Completed
San Francisco, CA and Paris, France 7/1/16—Publicly held Areva, a supplier of products for nuclear energy, has completed the previously announced sale of its Canberra nuclear instrumentation and measurement business to Mirion Technologies, a provider of radiation detection, measurement and monitoring products (see IBO 2/15/16). “We are excited by the combination of Mirion and Canberra, as it creates a premier supplier of radiation safety solutions for the nuclear, defense and medical industries,” said Mirion Chairman and CEO Thomas D. Logan. Canberra has approximately one thousand employees. Canberra CEO Jean-Bernard Koehl commented, “Our businesses are highly complementary and allow us to combine our respective strengths in different industries, geographies and technologies.”
For the research market, Canberra provides detectors and spectroscopy products. As with Mirion, Canberra also provides radiation detection and monitoring products for safety, security and industrial applications. According to Moody’s Investors Service, Mirion’s sales for the year ending September 30, 2015, totaled close to $250 million.
