Austin, TX 8/25/16; Buckinghamshire, UK 8/25/16—Filtration Group, a Madison Industries affiliate and provider of filtration solutions, has entered into an agreement to acquire Essentra’s Porous Technologies business for £220 million ($289 million= £0.76 = $1). Among Porous Technologies’ offerings are products for disease detection and prevention, lab testing and genetic analysis. “As a developer and manufacturer of custom vapor- and fluid-handling components, Porous Technologies will add greatly to Filtration Group’s technology portfolio,” stated Essentra Chief Executive Colin Day. For the 12 months ending June 30, Porous Technologies recorded £91.6 million ($130.9 million = £ 0.70 = $1) in external revenues and an operating profit of £17.6 million ($25.1 million). The acquisition is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2017.

The Filtration Group stated that the acquisition broadens its customer base, product portfolio and global operations. Porous Technologies’ laboratory products include pipette tip filters, DNA / RNA purification media and lateral flow assay wicks. The company total offerings serve multiple end-markets, including diagnostic, industrial, consumer and automotive.
