The Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) has released a draft of its plan to promote the sharing of research instruments and development of new instrumentation by researchers. The plan is designed to improve coordination among CAS scientists by centralizing research facilities. Under the plan, between 30 and 50 pilot centers will be established. CAS would allocate $220,588 in funding to each center per year. In addition, 20 researchers in 10 regional development centers would receive $147 per month. Separately, five researchers would receive $73,529–$147,059 in funding to develop instruments.
