Danaher Enters XRF Market

Danaher told IBO that no press release would be issued regarding the acquisition. Although XRF is a new technology area for Danaher, the acquisition is in line with Danaher’s recent investments in analytical instrument makers and its history in environmental markets.

Washington, DC 1/31/12—Danaher announced on its fourth-quarter conference call that during the quarter its Hach division acquired X-ray Optical Systems (XOS), a provider of X-ray fluorescence spectrometers used in elemental analysis for applied and environmental applications. No further details were available. According to XOS’s website, XOS supplies laboratory, on-line and in-line XRF systems as well as optics and subsystems to instrument manufacturers and OEM companies. According to XOS, it is the only commercial supplier of polycapillary X-ray optics and doubly curved crystal X-ray optics. The company has 80 employees and offices in New York and China.
