Enzo Settles with Illumina for $21 Million

New York, NY 7/7/16—Enzo Biochem’s Enzo Life Sciences subsidiary has finalized a settlement with Illumina resolving a suit brought by the company against Illumina in 2012 in the Delaware Federal District Court. The suit alleged infringement of US Patent No. 7,064,197 (System, Array and Non-Porous Solid Support Comprising Fixing or Immobilized Nucleic Acids) (see IBO 4/30/12). As part of the settlement, Illumina will pay Enzo $21 million. The case was one of 11 brought by Enzo in 2012 involving the patent. Five of the cases have now been resolved.

Enzo previously settled cases involving infringement of the patent with Affymetrix (see IBO 10/31/15), Agilent Technologies (see IBO 5/15/16) and Thermo Fisher Scientific (formerly Life Technologies) (see IBO 5/31/16), as well as with Luminex for diagnostic applications.
