The highest number of notifications were issued for toys (28% of notifications), and clothing and textiles (23%). The most common risks were chemical risks (26%) and injuries (21%). Contributing to the rise were new regulations restricting products containing dimethyl fumerate. Chinese products accounted for 60% of notifications. At the end of 2009, new RAPEX guidelines were adopted, including recommendations that specific risk-assessment methods be used.
