Indian Investments
Responding to the growing instrument market, particularly for life science products, companies continue to expand their operations in India. Life Technologies South Asia Managing Director Devashish Ohri told The Economic Times this month that the firm plans to add up to 100 employees to its Indian operations over the span of this year and next year. The company also may open a manufacturing facility in Delhi. The company currently conducts R&D in Delhi. Sigma-Aldrich recently expanded its Bangalore facility by 57,000 square feet, adding 49,000 square feet to a distribution center and building an 8,000-square-foot facility for packaging. Pharmabiz.com reported that the firm invested $5 million in the expansion.
