LabVantage opened an office in Monza, Italy, in July.

IDBS reported first-half revenues grew 20% to £20.3 million ($31.0 million), as software sales increased 44%, maintenance revenue rose 13% and professional services revenue grew 25%. In 2009, revenues rose 12% to £36.4 million ($56.9 million).

IDBS formed a Healthcare business unit.

Under a collaboration agreement, CambrigeSoft will sell, support and service the KNIME.com GmbH’s open source workflow tool in enterprise R&D environments. The firms will also tighten integration of their products.

Schrödinger released the Schrödinger Suite 2010 chemical simulation software, featuring a new product for core/scaffold hopping.

Genedata introduced PatentExplorer as part of its Phylosopher biological data management system.

Genedata launched Genedata Selector for biotechnological strain development in fermentation-based applications.

Simulations Plus released MedChem Studio 1.0 data mining and molecular design software, an evolution of its ClassPharmer software.

Simulations Plus introduced GastroPlus 7.0 simulation software, which now incorporates drug-drug interaction, ocular drug delivery and nasal/pulmonary drug delivery.

In August, CLC bio and PSSC Labs introduced the CLC Genomics Factory, a turnkey solution for assembly, read mapping and subsequent downstream analysis of large amounts of DNA and RNA sequencing data.

RURO launched the Sciency 2.0 electronic laboratory notebook, featuring a new GLP mode.

Astrid Research introduced the GenoMiner next-generation sequencing data analysis computer, featuring software tools for de novo and reference assembly.
