BioSolveIT agreed to market Molecular Networks GmbH products in North America. Accelrys appointed Jeffrey Rodek, former executive chairman of Hyperion Solutions, to its Board in August. He replaces Dr. Gary Costley. In September, Biomax Informatics AG acquired the operative business of data mining company eudaptics software GmbH, creating the Viscovery Software GmbH subsidiary. CLC bio opened a sales office in Nottingham, UK, in September to complement its reseller agreement with Lightwave Scientific. Ingenuity Systems joined the Biomarker Consortium in September. Agilent and ChemAxon agreed to maintain the integration between their respective Kalabie Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) and software suite. Agilent and Accelrys entered into a comprehensive reseller agreement in September for licensing and integration. Accelrys will resell Agilent’s OpenLAB Enterprise Content Manager, Kalabie ELN and GeneSpring gene expression products. Agilent will resell Accelrys’s Accord cheminformatics solution and Pipeline Pilot Scientific Operating Platform solutions. InforSense partnered with GenomeQuest. Progeniq, a provider of reconfigurable computing applications, joined Microsoft’s Bio IT Alliance. Following its acquisition of MDL Information Systems (see IBO 8/15/07) in September, Symyx Technologies undertook a restructuring plan that included the reduction of about 124 employees, consisting of 100 US employees and 20 overseas employees. IDBS entered into a strategic partnership with sample management software firm Titian Software. In October, Titian Software opened a US subsidiary in Hopkinton, Massachusetts.
