In October, CryoXtract Instruments named German Cryo as a distributor for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Poland.
In November, mut sold its direct laboratory automation business, which includes high-speed tube sorters, to Sarstedt.
Product Introductions
Gerstel launched in October the MPS RoboticPRO autosampler, based on the CTC PAL 3, for LC and GC. The system includes the “Prep Builder” software features for automating sample preparation.
In November, Teledyne CETAC Technologies launched the ASX-560 Autosampler, which improves upon the ASX-520 with enhanced pumping capabilities and a new design.
Hamilton Storage launched RackWare HD138 and HD60 high-density SBS-footprint racks for microtube and cryovial storage.
ABB launched a compact family of SCARA robots, the IRB 910SC, available in three configurations. Applications include lab automation.
Sales/Orders of Note
In November, Labcyte announced a partnership with AstraZeneca to develop a pharmaceutical compound management system based on its Echo acoustic handling technology used with storage tubes. The system will be deployed at AstraZeneca’s MRC UK Centre for Lead Discovery in Cambridge, UK. According to AstraZeneca, the project also encompasses Brooks Automation’s automated liquid storage systems.
HighRes Biosolutions announced a three-year agreement with AstraZeneca for the development and deployment of several new modular automated screening systems. Originally developed for the European Space Agency, the core robotics can operate without the need for protection shielding, allowing for more interaction between the automation system and user.
