Company Announcements

In April, Singulex announced a partnership with the Dutch Technology Foundation to form the Biomarker Development Center.

In May, MBio Diagnostics closed a $6.3 million Series B financing to further develop its portable, easy-to-use multiplex system that can detect all key analytes.

Emulate announced in June research collaboration with Janssen Biotech to deploy its Organs-on-Chip platform. The technology will advance the clinical goals of three research programs: Lung-on-Chip and Thrombosis-on-Chip to evaluate pulmonary thrombosis, Liver-on-Chip to better predict liver toxicity, and an undisclosed program.

Quanterix announced an alliance with PBL Assay Science as a preferred partner for assay R&D.

Syngene appointed AlphaMetrix Biotech and LTF-Labortechnik as German distributors.

In July, NanoString Technologies named Alessandra Cesano, MD, PhD, as chief medical officer. Most recently, she served as chief medical officer at Cleave Biosciences.

BioNano Genomics named Gene Company as a distributor for mainland China (excluding Shanghai), with exclusive rights in Hong Kong and Macau.

Fluidigm expanded its relationship with OpGen, signing a five-year agreement that includes collaborating on the development of test kits and custom analytical instruments for identification, screening and surveillance testing of multidrug resistance organisms of pathogens’ genes.

Product Introductions

In May, Gyros launched the Gyrolab CHO-HCP Kit 1, which detects and quantifies host cell proteins from CHO cells used in bioprocessing of biotherapeutics.

Thermo Fisher Scientific released the iBind Western System for automated western blot processing. It is based on sequential lateral flow technology, and can adapt to a variety of blot formats and sample throughputs.

Reichert Life Sciences, a unit of AMETEK Ultra Precision Technologies, launched the Reichert4SPR, a four-channel SPR system for increased throughput and study-design flexibility.

MR Solutions launched a conversion kit that transforms its clinical MRI system into a preclinical scanner in around 10 minutes. The conversion involves sliding in a carrier system linked to a separate EVO spectrometer.

In June, InDevR launched the Cypher One system for automated interpretation of hemagglutination and hemagglutination-inhibition assays.

Protein Technologies introduced the Prelude X, calling it the first peptide synthesizer featuring rapid and uniform induction heat across six reaction vessels.

GE Healthcare Life Sciences launched the Biacore S200 SPR-based system, designed for low–molecular weight drug discovery.
