In June, Spark Holland named LEAP Technologies as a value-added partner for US distribution. LEAP will initially focus on automated at-line systems integrated with the CTC PAL3 platforms and universal CHRONOS software.

Phenomenex acquired Micron Analytica, its Spanish distribution partner, in June.

Illumina, Merck KGaA and Genea established the Global Fertility Alliance to advance excellence in fertility technologies and processes.

Transgenomic named Mya Thomae, vice president of Regulatory Affairs at Illumina, to its Board in June.

For the fiscal year ending March 28, Halma Environmental & Analysis sales declined 1.3% to £164.4 million ($264.3 million) (see IBO 6/15/15) to account for 23% of sales. Excluding currency, sales were marginally higher, led by demand for water quality testing and gas conditioning products in emerging markets, especially China. The segment has over 80 employees in China. This growth was mostly offset by weakness in the UK water utilities and lower OEM spectroscopy demand due to inventory control. Science & Environmental end-markets accounted for 41% of segment sales. Adjusted segment profit fell 13.7% to £27.4 million ($40.5 million) as a result of restructuring activity.

Xylem named Jayanthi Iyengar to the newly created position of senior vice president, and chief innovation and technology officer, effective June 12. Most recently, she served as Group vice president, Engineering and Technology, and CTO for Eaton’s Aerospace Group.

Thermo Fisher Scientific announced a £14 million ($16 million) expansion to its campus in Inchinnan, Scotland, to add a facility for manufacturing Gibco Advanced Granulation Technology for cell culture manufacturing.

PerkinElmer formed a strategic collaboration with Albany Molecular Research (AMRI) in connection with the opening of AMRI’s drug discovery center at New York’s Buffalo Medical Innovation and Commercialization Hub.

Pall announced in a June SEC filing that Rainer Blair, Danaher vice president and Group executive, will become president and CEO of Pall upon completion of Danaher’s purchase of Pall (see IBO 5/15/15).

Teledyne Technologies named Robert A. Malone, executive chairman, president and CEO of First Sonora Bancshares, to its Board, effective July 1.

QIAGEN partnered with Biotype Diagnostics in June to establish Biotype Innovations, which will develop and commercialize molecular diagnostics workflows initially for personalized health care application based on QIAGEN’s ModaPlex multiplex real-time PCR and capillary electrophoresis platform. QIAGEN will have worldwide distribution rights, while Biotype will have codistribution rights in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Roper Technologies announced in June the passing of Board member David W. Devonshire.
