Emulate launched in July a $12 million Series A financing to commercialize its “Organs-on-Chips” platform.
The Boston Business Journal reported in July that PathoGenetix, which was developing its Genome Sequence Scanning technology for pathogen detection in food, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
In August, Blacktrace Holding, which owns Dolomite Microfluidics and Syrris, licensed certain microfluidic technology from PerkinElmer.
NanoString Technologies CMO, J. Wayne Cowens, MD, passed away unexpectedly in August.
In September, Biocartis combined its Swiss Evaluation business unit with Pronota to form MyCartis, which also completed a €15 million ($20 million) equity round. MyCartis will commercialize the Evaluation platform (previously known as DMAT) for the detection of a broad range of proteins and nucleic acid biomarkers.
Zephyrus Bioscience secured $1.86 million in funding to develop a single-cell Western blotting system for analyzing proteins in thousands of single cells.
Bruker announced that the Singapore Bioimaging Consortium–Bruker Preclinical Imaging Center will open in October. The organizations are long-term partners.
Horizon Technology led a $10 million venture loan for IntegenX.
Product Introductions
For its Simple Western platform, ProteinSimple launched in July the Total Protein Master Kit, which allows the detection of all proteins separated in the assay simultaneously. Simple Western users can now analyze proteins without the need for an antibody.
For its nCounter Elements General Purpose Reagents, NanoString Technologies released a universal junction-probe design that offers specific detection and analysis of known fusion genes.
In September, NanoString Technologies introduced the PanCancer Immune Profiling Panel for the nCounter Analyzer. The gene-expression panel comprises 770 genes.
PerkinElmer released the Solaris quantitative optical molecular-imaging system for small and large animals.
Bruker introduced the SkyScan 1278 micro-CT system, featuring a new spatial beam shaper that reduces the absorbed-radiation dose.
GE Healthcare Life Sciences launched the Amersham WB system, a fully integrated system for quantitative SDS-PAGE and Western blotting of proteins using fluorescence detection.
