Repligen agreed to acquire in June the business of Refine Technology, including the Alternating Tangential Flow system, for $24.5 million in cash, stock and contingent milestone payments. The purchase is expected to add $3.5–$4 million in revenue for the remainder of 2014.
In June, Repligen appointed Nicolas M. Barthelemy to its Board. Most recently, he was president, Global Commercial Operations, at Life Technologies.
Knauer announced that Dr. Alexander Bünz, comanaging director, left the company in June.
Oxford Finance closed an $8 million senior secured-term loan agreement with Natrix Separations.
PerkinElmer announced a collaboration with Malaysia’s Unversiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Perak Campus, utilizing the Flexar FX-10 UHPLC system for food testing.
Showa Denko expanded its long-term supply agreement with BIA Separations, taking over customers in several Asian territories, including Japan and Singapore.
Product Introductions
Tosoh Bioscience introduced in the Americas in June TOYOPEARL NH2-750F, an anion-exchange resin designed for the purification of proteins in elevated salt conditions.
Tosoh Bioscience launched in the Americas the MiniChrom column format, prepacked, 8 mm ID x 10 cm (5 mL) columns, for TOYOPEARL and TSKgel.
Agilent Technologies released the AdvanceBio Glycan Mapping Column, available in two UHPLC configurations, and the Poroshell HPH-C18 and HPH-C8 chemistries, which are ideal for high-pH applications.
Cole-Parmer introduced the LC2 System, a fully integrated, binary gradient HPLC system.
Biotage launched the ACI (Accelerated Chromatographic Isolation) wizard for use with its Isolera system for rapid, more economical flash purification.
Shimadzu introduced in July the i-Series integrated HPLC systems for routine analytical operations, consisting of the Nexera-I for ultrahigh-speed analysis and the Prominence-I for conventional-to-high-speed analysis. They feature full automation, control from a smart device and a faster injection-cycle time.
Thermo Fisher Scientific launched the Thermo Scientific Vanquish UHPLC system, featuring 22,000 psi maximum pump pressure and a flow rate up to 5 mL/min., and the Thermo Scientific Accucore Vanquish columns with 1.5 µm solid-core particles.
Metrohm announced in July that Waters Empower software now controls its IC systems.
3M introduced the Emphaze AEX Hybrid Purifier, the first in a series of products combining advanced polymer materials, fine fiber nonwovens and membranes. Laboratory and Scale-up capsules are now available with Production capsules to be launched by year end.
