Micromeritics announced in March the acquisition of TA Instruments’ high-pressure volumetric analyzer product line, which TA acquired when it bought VTI.

Setaram announced a distribution agreement for ACL Instruments’ range of chemiluminescence analysis systems for the study of oxidative effects for aging, stability and the high-precision calculation of shelf life.

Following the default in March on a secured nonconvertible revolving note issued by Laurus Funds, JMAR Technologies’ assets, including its multi-angle light scattering technology, were auctioned off to Laurus.

MTS Systems elected David J. Anderson to its Board in May. He recently retired as president and CEO of Sauer-Danfoss. Joseph M. O’Donnell resigned from the Board.

Product Introductions

Thermo Fisher Scientific introduced an expanded measurement option for its HAAKE CaBER extensional rheometer that makes it possible to quantify the extensional properties of fluids using normal force measurements.

Brookfield Engineering introduced the RS Portable Rotational Rheometer, a coaxial cylinder rheometer.

Grabner Instruments, an AMETEK company, launched the MINIVAP VPXpert, its third-generation vapor pressure tester, designed for all vapor pressure standards.

Scent Detection Technologies released the portable MN200Mil, a dual-mode explosives and narcotics trace and vapor detection system, based on its High Frequency-Quartz Crystal Microbalance technology.

Malvern Instruments introduced the large-volume wet cell accessory to its Morphologi G3 particle characterization system for use with wet dispersions and emulsions.

In April, Shimadzu Japan introduced the AGS-X Series Table Top Precision Universal Testers, which includes 11 models and features the TRAPEZIUM LITE X data processing software and a test force measurement range from 1/500 to 1/1 of maximum test force.

Konica Minolta Sensing Americas released the CR-400/410 specialty colorimeters for the food industry.

IZON Science launched the qNano and qVano nanopore platforms for fluid-borne nanoparticle analysis, featuring adjustable nanopores for tunable, resistive pulse sensing over a wide particle size range. The qNano is designed for nanoparticle research. The qVano is designed for virus counting.

Wilson Instruments, an Instron company, released the 574 Rockwell Hardness Testers for the automotive and aerospace industries.

In June, Malvern Instruments, a Spectris company, announced the 10,000th sale of its Mastersizer laser diffraction particle size analyzer.
