Company Announcements

Freeman Technologies established a US subsidiary in January.

Dynisco announced in February the purchase of the assets of China’s Shanghai Hao Ying Measurement and Control Technology, which will make and sell products under the Hao Ying brand and Dynisco brand names.

Brookfield Engineering Laboratories and Indian distributor Amkette Analytics opened an advanced application lab in Thane, India, in February.

Malvern Instruments is working with Postnova Analytics to deliver combined field-flow fractionation and dynamic light-scattering solutions.

In March, Malvern Instruments opened a 22,000-square-foot multipurpose facility in Houston, Texas, which is double the size of its previous facility and includes 600 square feet of training rooms. The facility will serve as a Center of Excellence for separations products.

MTS Systems announced in March that it is investigating possible violations of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act by persons in its South Korean office. The company took remedial actions and voluntarily disclosed the matter to the US government.

MTS Systems named Jeffrey A. Graves CEO, effective May 7. He is the former president and CEO of C&D Technologies.

01dB-Metrabiv changed its name to ACOEM, following its sale by AREVA in late 2011 to French capital investment firm Evolem and management. ACOEM has annual sales of €43 million ($60 million) and 274 employees.

Product Introductions

Decagon Devices released the AquaLab Vapor Sorption Analyzer for generating dynamic and static isotherms.

Micromeritics released the MicroActive data analysis software for the interactive evaluation of isotherm data from its gas adsorption instruments.

In January, OmniTek launched the U-VIsc 200 automated viscometer, which features two independent baths, each containing two tubes that cover a 100-fold range. Each bath has a 32-position sample tray (16 samples per tube). The tubes require only 8–12 mL of sample.

CANNON Instrument released the Thermoelectric Bending-Beam Rheometer for advanced controlled stress measurement. It has a maximum force of 44 N.

Cambridge Viscosity introduced the SPC 345 gas viscometer for multiphase fluid analysis. It is well suited for high-pressure, high-temperature environments.

In March, Lloyd Instruments, an AMETEK company, introduced the single-column LS5 and LS2.5 advanced materials-testing systems. The LS5 is a 5kN/1124 lbf machine, and the LS2.5 is a 2.5kN/562 lbf device. Both are used for tensile and compression testing, friction, tearing, peeling, insertion/extraction, creep/relaxation and other measurements.
