Unchained Labs acquired Avid Nano, a developer and manufacturer of dynamic light scattering (DLS) systems, in July.

Malvern Instruments established an applications lab at Servion Therapeutics.

In August, Surface Measurement Systems announced the end of its six-year distribution agreement with Micromeritics/Particulate Systems, except in France.

Fluid Imaging Technologies named Shanghai Sunyear Scientific as its exclusive Chinese distributor and France Scientific as a distributor for France.

In September, MTS Systems established a subsidiary in India, with headquarters in Bangalore.

In October, MTS Systems named David W. Saylor as senior vice president, Operational Excellence, effective November 9. Previously, he served as COO of Sunrise Windows.

LUM established LUM (Changzhou) Instruments, a Chinese joint venture with the Jiangsu Sino-German Innovation Center (Jiangsu) Changzhou. LUM holds an 80% stake.

Product Introductions

Unchained Labs released in May the Unit multiplex protein stability system for biologics, featuring a 144-sample-per-day throughput with a 9 µL sample size. It measures fluorescence and light scattering.

Unchained Labs launched in June the HUNK quantitative biologics stability predictor, which can determine if protein aggregates are from the native or denatured state.

Unchained Labs introduced in July the pUNK DLS system for protein sizing, which utilizes the single-use BladeCell consumable and requires 5 µL of sample.

Mettler-Toledo launched the DSC 3 differential scanning calorimeter, featuring a 34-sample robot, and the TGA 2 thermogravimetric analyzer, featuring improved thermostating of the balance.

In July, Thermo Fisher Scientific introduced the Thermo Scientific HAAKE MARS (molecular advanced rheometer system) 40 and 60 rheometers, featuring application-specific measuring cells and hybrid methods.

In September, PerkinElmer launched the TGA800, featuring an upper temperature of 1,200 ºC.

Hiden Isochema released the ABR Automated Breakthrough Analyzer, a sorption instrument for characterizing the gas separation performance of novel materials. It is supplied with a close-coupled quadrupole MS.

TSI introduced the 1nm Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer Spectrometer, featuring the new Model 3777 Nano Enhancer and Model 3086 Differential Mobility Analyzer.

In October, Buehler introduced the Wilson VH3300 hardness tester, featuring a six-position test head with up to three indenters.
