McKesson Acquires LABSCO
The acquisition adds to McKesson Medical-Surgical’s lab equipment and instrument business. LABSCO provides general laboratory equipment, such as refrigerators and centrifuges, as well as lab supplies, assays and systems to diagnostics labs. Its lab equipment competitors and suppliers include firms that provide products to both the scientific and diagnostics markets.
Richmond, VA 6/9/16; New York, NY 5/13/16—Health care services and information technology firm McKesson has purchased LABSCO from Frazier Healthcare Partners for an undisclosed amount. The purchase was completed on May 13. A distributor of capital equipment and private label products, LABSCO provides lab solutions to community hospitals, large doctors’ offices and specialty regional labs. LABSCO now operates as an affiliate of McKesson’s Medical-Surgical business, which works with health systems, physician offices, care providers, in-home patients, labs and patients to deliver better care. “This segment is rich with opportunities for better solutions and growth, and I believe that acquiring LABSCO accelerates our strategy to offer a leading set of lab solutions for customers,” stated Doug Shaver, senior vice president and general manager, Laboratory, at McKesson Medical-Surgical.
