Merck KGaA Submits Concessions to EU
In its first quarter conference call, Merck noted that the EU had “expressed some limited and preliminary concerns.” In December 2014, the US Federal Trade Commission cleared the transaction.
Brussels, Belgium 5/27/15—Reuters has reported that on May 22, Merck KGaA submitted “commitments” to the EU as to how it will address antitrust concerns raised by its proposed acquisition of Sigma-Aldrich (see IBO 9/30/14). Reuters re-ported that the European Commission now plans to issue a decision regarding the transaction on June 15 instead of June 1.
