Cell Line Genetics agreed in June to exclusively sell Ambry Genetics’ Ambry StemArray aCGH (array comparative genomic hybridization) product and services.

In July, SQI Diagnostics, a microarray diagnostics firm, agreed to acquire Scienion, a maker of microarray-manufacturing equipment and provider of print-and-development services, for around CAD $30 million ($31 million), consisting of CAD $15 million ($15 million) in cash and the issuance of 735,294 common shares.

In July, BlueGnome entered into a supply agreement with SciGene, which will manufacture its new range of ClearHyb hybridization and wash systems.

In July, Procognia granted CTC Laboratory System a license to sell, distribute and market in Japan the GlycoScope, a lectin array–based technology for quantitative glycoanalysis of intact glycoproteins.

In July, Agilent appointed Molecular Genomics a Certified Service Provider, its first in Singapore.

In August, Roche announced that PerkinElmer, effective January 2012, will assume responsibility for sales, service and support of its NimbleGen CGX array workflow in most countries outside the US. The NimbleGen CGX array workflow uses Roche’s microarray technology and the array design and analysis software of Signature Genomics, a PerkinElmer company.

Product Introductions

PerkinElmer, through its Signature Genomics Laboratories unit, launched an oncology-testing service utilizing its OncoChip microarray technology for the detection of hematological malignancies. The two options are Copy Number Evaluation and Translocation Assessment.

ProImmune introduced the ProArray Ultra protein and peptide array platform service, which enables the analysis of more than 30,000 peptides or proteins at once.

Phalanx Biotech launched the Rice Genome OneArray, containing 22,003 long-oligonucleotide probes, as a service offering.

In July, Affymetrix began shipments of its FDA-cleared Gene Profiling Reagents and introduced the Gene Profiling Array cGMP U133 P2.

In July, Illumina began shipping its HumanOmni5-Quad DNA Analysis BeadChip, featuring over 4.3 million variants per sample.

In August, Affymetrix introduced early access for the GeneChip Human Transcriptome and Splice Junction Array for large-scale clinical studies. It is a 6.9 million-feature array that was developed with Stanford University.

In August, Agilent launched the SureScan Microarray Scanner for gene expression and CGH/cytogenetics research applications. It features a detection limit of as low as 0.01 fluorophores per square micron.

Phalanx Biotech released a new version of its OneArray miRNA expression-profiling microarrays.
