Panorama Synergy announced in November 2015 an exclusive licensing agreement with the University of Western Australia for its MEMS-based optical spectroscopy sensor technology.

Felix Instruments announced a joint marketing collaboration with Hanna Instruments for the US.

Trinean announced in February that its DropSense96 spectrophotometer was integrated with Freeslate’s (now Unchained Labs’) CM3 automation platform.

Analog Devices and Consumer Physics (CP) announced a collaboration to develop a sensor-to-cloud platform and industrial Internet of Things platform that analyzes liquids and solids. The two companies plan to embed CP’s SCiO technology into smartphones, wearables, industrial and medical applications.

Product Introductions

B&W Tek introduced in January TOS Software 4.0 for its handheld TacticID Raman system. The software now supports SERS heroin identification and has a larger on-board library.

Mettler-Toledo launched the UV/Vis Excellence product line of four models: the UV5, UV7, UV5Bio and UV5Nano. A full spectrum scan is performed in one second and industry-specific methods are predefined.

PAC launched the new OptiReader ellipsometric jet fuel thermal oxidation heater tube scanner. Full mapping is completed in 10 minutes.

ASD released the FieldSpec Dual collection software system, calling it the world’s first commercially available full-range (350–2,500 nm) field solution for collection of high-quality reflectance spectra under variable sky conditions.

Magritek launched the Spinsolve 31P Phosphorus benchtop NMR system, designed for purity assays and reaction monitoring.

Magritek introduced in March the Spinsolve 60 proton, fluorine and carbon systems with 60 MHz capability.

In February, Datacolor introduced the 850 and 550 spectrophotometers for reflectance and transmission measurement. The 850 features a built-in video camera.

Ocean Optics released the compact Flame-NIR system. Complete systems can be configured for under $10,000.

Bruker released Wine Profiling 3.0 for its NMR FoodScreener, featuring geographical origin verification for major European wine producing countries.

Bruker introduced the InsightMR solution, which uses NMR flow tube on-line monitoring for chemical reactions.

DeNovix announced in January the purchase of 81 DS-11 UV/Vis spectrophotometers by Australia’s Queensland University of Technology for its undergraduate labs.
