In July, AB SCIEX, Genedata and LECO partnered to deliver a collaborative software system to enable metabolomics researchers to process and analyze data across different GC/MS and LC/MS platforms.
In July, Thermo Fisher Scientific agreed to exclusively distribute Mitsui Knowledge Industry’s Lipid Search software for the interpretation of lipidomic research data.
In July, Biognosys named Filgen a distributor for Japan for the next two years.
New England Peptide and Cambridge Isotope Laboratories announced a joint manufacturing agreement for preloaded resins for the synthesis of peptide stable isotope standards.
Waters announced in July the sponsorship of a new, two-year, postdoctoral Clinical Chemistry Fellowship at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine.
In August, bioMérieux’s VITEK MALDI-TOF MS-based system for identification of disease-causing bacteria and yeast received FDA 510(k) de novo clearance.
Thermo Fisher Scientific announced in August a systems biology collaboration with the Technical University of Denmark. Thermo will provide LC/MS technology, including the Orbitrap Fusion Tribrid, and early access to new technology for cellular signaling network research.
Product Introductions
AB SCIEX introduced in July the MPX TF 1.0 Software, which is designed to accelerate drug screening with accurate mass–based technology for labs performing clinical research. It enables the use of two parallel LC streams.
In August, AB SCIEX released MasterView Software for use with its TripleTOF accurate mass technology for automated data analysis and streamlined data review.
Hiden Analytical launched the HPR-20 QIC TMS system, configured for analysis of fast transient pulses and rapid compositional changes in gaseous processes.
In August, Shimadzu launched the LCMS-8050 triple quadrupole LC/MS/MS system, which incorporates a newly designed heated ESI source and new UFsweeper III collision cell technology and delivers a maximum scan rate of 30,000 u/sec and 5 msec polarity switching time.
Biognosys announced the second release of its Spectronaut software for the analysis of hyper reaction monitoring (HRM) data, which now supports Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Thermo Scientific Q Exactive MS system. New features include advanced HRM-specific peak scoring and new visualization options.
Sales/Orders of Note
Danaher stated on its second quarter conference call that it expects the AB SCIEX Triple Quad 6500 MS to generate over $100 million in sales on an annualized basis.
