Company Announcements
Freiberg Instruments, a provider of inline metrology solutions, announced in January the acquisition of German firm Magnettech, a supplier of electron spin resonance (ESR) systems. Dr. Kay Dornich succeeded Dr. Eberhard Friese as CEO, but Dr. Friese will remain with the company. More than 300 of Magnettech’s MS 400 ESR/EPR systems are installed worldwide.
In March, Scott Technology acquired the remaining 49% of HTS-110 from Callaghan Industrial Research and American Superconductor.
Norell and Nanalysis announced a strategic partnership in March, under which Norell will distribute Nanalysis NMR systems in the US.
Nanalysis announced in May a collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute and Hansa Fine Chemicals to develop a microreactor flow system for its NMR system.
Stelar named Spin-Doc NMR as a representative for Germany, France, Switzerland and Austra.
In May, Margritek named LEAP Technologies as a distributor for its Spinsolve system in the US and Canada. The companies also formed a partnership to develop automated solutions for NMR products.
Agilent Technologies named Dr. Carolyn Mountford, a professor of radiology at the University of Newcastle, Australia, and Harvard University as the winner of an Agilent Thought Leader Award for her use of NMR in cancer research. The award will support her research on novel in vivo NMR techniques that may help identify breast cancer in high-risk women.
Product Introductions
In March, Bruker launched TopSolids, a workflow-based software package for solid-state NMR. It features a library of multidimensional experiments and a set of semiautomated experimental preparation steps.
Bruker introduced a sample-automation system for 10 mm OD sample tubes for the minispec mq and mq-one series.
Bruker released JuiceScreener 3.0, featuring an expanded database of reference spectra.
Bruker launched in May the new 400 MHz Phased Array MRI CryoProbe for rat brain in vivo neuroimaging.
GE launched the SPINlab hyperpolarizing system that enables the visualization of metabolic activity at the cellular level using MRI. It is the inaugural product of GE’s Research Circle Technology business, which utilizes an open-innovation structure.
Sales/Orders of Note
Bruker announced in April the 200th installation of an ultra-stabilized NMR magnet in China. The 850 MHz Ascent magnet with AVANCE III HD and CryoPlatform was installed at the Wuhan Institute of Physics and Magnets.
