Olympus Invests in XRF
Innov-x Systems had 2009 sales of $40 million, according to Olympus. Olympus stated that it plans to combine its NDT technology with Innov-X’s XRF technology.
Waltham, MA 7/2/10; Tokyo, Japan 7/2/10—Olympus NDT has acquired Innov-X Systems, a manufacturer of portable X-ray fluorescence (XRF) systems, for an undisclosed amount. Innov-X has operated as a business division of Olympus NDT since July 1. Olympus has retained Innov-X’s current management and employee base. “The decision to acquire Innov-X Systems was based on the complementary product portfolios of both companies. This is yet another significant step for Olympus in becoming the world leader in the manufacture and distribution of inspection devices that enhance safety, security and productivity and that also contribute to society,” stated Olympus NDT CEO Toshihiko Okubo. Olympus NDT is a supplier of nondestructive testing instruments for industrial and research applications, including thickness gages, in-line systems, industrial scanners, probes and transducers.
