Oxford Instruments Names New CEO

Dr. Barkshire’s positions with the company included head of the NanoCharacterisation Division, Group Technical Director and, since 2015, COO. He holds a DPhil in Physics from the University of York. Oxford Instruments shares closed up 1.3% the day of the announcement.

Abingdon, UK 4/12/16—Oxford Instruments, a supplier of high-technology systems, has appointed COO Ian Barkshire, PhD, as its new chief executive, effective May 11. He replaces Jonathan Flint, who will remain on the Board until July 2016. “Ian has a track record of almost two decades of leading and building businesses within Oxford Instruments with distinction, most recently as our chief operating officer,” stated Oxford Instruments Chairman Nigel Keen. Mr. Flint has served as chief executive for 11 years.
