Siemens Acquires Laboratory Water Company

SG Water’s products include point-of-use and central systems and are used in the biotech, pharmaceutical, medical, semiconductor and power industries. The acquisition will also add to Siemens’s reverse osmosis and electrodeionization product lines.

Erlangen, Germany 10/6/08—Siemens has acquired SG Wasseraufbereitung und Regenerierstation GmbH (SG Water Treatment and Regeneration) for an undisclosed amount. SG Water provides water treatment solutions for laboratories and industrial organizations, including ultra pure water systems and reverse osmosis equipment for the lab. The company will join Siemens Water Technologies, part of Siemens’ Industry Solutions Division. “The solutions of SG Water will complement especially our water treatment product portfolio in the USA,” stated Dave Spyker, executive vice president of Siemens Water Technologies. SG Water is based in Barsbüttel, Germany, and has 60 employees. More than half of SG Water’s sales are from outside Germany. The company will retain its name.
