Sigma-Aldrich Buys Second Standards Firm in Two Months

This is Sigma-Aldrich’s second recent purchase of a standards provider, following its acquisition of Cerilliant (see IBO 12/31/10). Based in Laramie, Wyoming, Resource Technology was founded in 1988 and serves the environmental and pharmaceutical markets.

St. Louis, MO 1/31/11—Sigma-Aldrich has acquired Resource Technology, a provider of analytical standards and certified reference materials, for an undisclosed amount. Sigma-Aldrich stated that the acquisition would complement its Supelco and Fluka brand products with expertise in design, development, characterization and packaging of analytical standards, matrix standards, certified reference materials and proficiency testing. “Their experienced team, capabilities and customer contacts combine nicely with our breadth of product, high-quality portfolio, extensive scientific knowledge and global footprint,” stated Russel Gant, vice president of Sigma-Aldrich’s Analytical Research business.
