This month, Switzerland launched SystemsX.ch, a consortium of eight universities, three research institutions and members of industry that aims to be the heart of Swiss systems biology research. For 2008–2011, a total of CHF 400 million ($352.2 million) in government funding will go to support systems biology research. However, CHF 100 million ($88.1 million) of this amount will be disbursed only if matching funds for individual projects are provided by SystemsX.ch partners.
