Thermo Buys Single-Use System Manufacturer for $300 Million
ASI has 380 employees at facilities in Pennsylvania and Mexico. Thermo stated that it intends to expand the distribution of ASI products. ASI provides custom systems for bioprocessing, including storage systems, mixers and filling systems, as well as single-use fluid-management systems for medical-device, drug-delivery and diagnostics OEMs.
Waltham, MA 2/5/15—Thermo Fisher Scientific has acquired Advanced Scientifics (ASI) for $300 million in cash. With $80 million in 2014 revenues, ASI designs and manufactures customized single-use systems and equipment for biopharmaceutical preparation, processing, storage and transportation. “ASI’s intense customer focus has led to the development of innovative solutions that complement our existing single-use technologies and expand our offering across the bioprocessing workflow,” commented Marc N. Casper, president and CEO of Thermo. ASI will join Thermo’s Life Sciences Solutions Segment.
