United Arab Emirates

The new National Authority for Scientific Research (NASR) will receive AED 100 million ($27 million) per year from the UAE government. Part of the Ministry and Higher Education and Scientific Research, the NASR was started in order for the UAE to be recognized by the international scientific community and to promote scientific research through cooperation between public and private universities, companies and researchers. Project information will be made available to the public. The NASR is currently working with 20 international scientific centers, primarily in the US and Australia. Three universities recognized for their background in scientific research will heavily contribute to this initiative: Emirates University, Zayed University and Higher Colleges of Technology. Among other things, the NASR plans to build new laboratories and organize national conferences.
