New Castle, DE 9/12/16–Waters’ subsidiary TA Instruments, a provider of analytical instruments for thermal analysis, rheology and microcalorimetry, has announced the acquisition of Rubotherm, which develops and manufactures systems for thermogravimetric and sorption measurements. “Rubotherm brings a great new technology and capability to TA in the form of their patented magnetic suspension balance,” stated TA Instruments President Terry Kelly. “The application of this technology in TGA opens new markets for TA and further extends our world leading position in thermal analysis.”

Rubotherm’s magnetic suspension balance technology enables weighing without contact in a closed chamber, allowing for measurement under extreme conditions. End-users of Rubotherm products include industrial and academic markets. This is TA Instruments’ fifth acquisition since 2013 (see IBO 10/31/13, 2/28/14 and 5/31/15).
