NuGEN Launches Library Preparation Solutions for the Ion PGM Sequencer

SAN CARLOS, Calif. & SAN FRANCISCO–NuGEN Technologies Inc. and Ion Torrent, a unit of Life Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ:LIFE), today announced the release of three new products developed by NuGEN for the Ion Personal Genome Machine™ (PGM™). Ion PGM customers can now order the NuGEN Encore® NGS Library Systems for Ion Torrent from the Ion Torrent webstore; these products are also available for purchase directly from NuGEN.

The Encore NGS Library Systems for Ion Torrent afford rapid and efficient library construction to produce DNA libraries from as little as 100ng of DNA in a streamlined workflow that does not require specialized equipment to perform size selection. Sequencing libraries can be created for a wide range of applications and kit selection offers the option of 16-Plex multiplex sequencing on an Ion chip.

“NuGEN is pleased to provide enabling solutions for scientists using the Ion PGM sequencer,” said Elizabeth Hutt, CEO of NuGEN Technologies. “This expansion of our Encore Library family further demonstrates the utility of our technology across a broad range of genomic platforms and applications. Our commitment to provide innovative solutions for simplifying workflows and optimizing cost and efficiency through multiplexing will accelerate important scientific discoveries.”

“As part of our developers’ network, NuGEN has rapidly developed these Encore kits for the Ion PGM sequencing system to expand the scope of applications for our customers,” said Gregg Fergus, Ion Torrent’s President and COO. “We are pleased to make these novel products available directly and through our webstore to enable the fastest growing NGS customer base to purchase all their Ion Torrent and Ion compatible products simply and with confidence.”
