Waldkirch/New Delhi — Sensor producer SICK has responded to the Indian economy’s high growth rate, and particularly the enormous growth in industrial production, by founding its own subsidiary in New Delhi.

SICK AG was represented in India by an exclusive distributor until the new company started operations. With the newly founded SICK Pvt. Ltd., in which the Waldkirch-based sensor producer holds a 51 per cent stake, the company wants to be closer to the market and offer Indian customers, too, the high level of product expertise, application knowledge, and after-sales service expected of the SICK Group.

SICK Pvt. Ltd. opened in New Delhi on 24 February 2005. An office will soon be opened in Mumbai. Further Indian sites are planned and should open in 2006.

SICK is optimistic that it can not only profit from India’s growth, but also increase its share of the existing market.
