Nuremberg/Erlangen, Germany and Gothenburg, Sweden-Siemens Automation & Drives has acquired AltOptronic, a laser spectrometry product supplier for combustion process, environmental technology and metallugy applications. AltOptronic specializes in in-situ methods and fiber-optic sensors. Semiconductor spectrometry enables a highly accurate analysis of gas concentrations under difficult conditions.

AltOptronic will operate as a subsidiary of Siemens of Sweden. The acquisition is part of Siemens increasing involvement in the process analysis business.
