Waters Corporation Announces the Purchase of VTI Corporation’s TGA Products

MILFORD, Mass.–July 24, 2008–Waters Corporation (NYSE:WAT) today announced that it has completed the purchase of the net assets of VTI Corporation of Hialeah, FL for an undisclosed amount. Waters will immediately merge the acquired business into its TA Instruments Division.

VTI is a manufacturer of sorption analysis and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) instruments which are widely used in the evaluation of pharmaceuticals, catalysts, and energy-related materials. Dr. Augie Venero, founder of VTI, and a pioneer in the field of sorption studies will join TA Instruments.

This acquisition adds two technologies which complement TA Instruments’ existing gravimetric analysis product line. VTI sorption analysis products are designed for water and organic vapor sorption studies of pharmaceuticals and related materials. VTI Corporation has been a pioneer in this field for over 20 years, and VTI products are industry standards in pharmaceutical laboratories around the world. VTI’s high-pressure, high-vacuum TGA products are designed for high-pressure sorption studies which are commonly used in the analysis of energy-related materials.

Terry Kelly, President of TA Instruments, comments on the acquisition:

“The addition of VTI further strengthens TA Instruments’ industry-leading position in thermal analysis while expanding TA Instruments’ exposure into the rapidly-growing pharmaceutical and energy markets.”
