Enzo Biochem Buys Belgian Distributor
Enzo Biochem continues to strengthen its Life Sciences business, having expanded the product lines with the acquisition of Axxora Life Sciences (see IBO 12/31/07). This acquisition helps Enzo to expand geographically. This acquisition, along with VWR’s recent purchases, attest to the fact that Europe remains one of the more fragmented markets for laboratory product distribution.
New York, NY 12/19/07—Enzo Biochem’s Life Sciences subsidiary has signed a letter of intent to purchase 10 P’s BVBA, a Belgium-based distributor of life science products that serves the Benelux countries. Financial terms were not disclosed. “10 P’s will not only provide us with the opportunity to improve and expand relationships with the end-users of our products, but also affords us with an important local presence in a key European region,” said Carl W. Balezentis, PhD, president of Enzo Life Sciences. “In addition, 10 P’s enjoys exclusive relationships with other reagent manufacturers that will provide Enzo with the opportunity to further expand our product line.” Enzo Biochem stated that the Life Sciences subsidiary plans to make additional acquisitions. The transaction is scheduled to close in February next year.
