analytica Comes to the US
The first analytica USA exhibition and conference will be held in Columbia, Ohio, from September 10 to 12. This is the first time analytica, a series of lab technology, analysis and biotech exhibitions held worldwide by trade fair organization Messe München, will take place in the US. analytica USA will host 260 plus exhibitors.
analytica trade shows are also held in Africa, China, India and Vietnam. The main analytica show is held every other year in Munich, Germany, with the next show scheduled for March 24–27, 2026.
In addition to the exhibition, analytica USA will feature an Exhibitor Forum that includes presentations, discussions and roundtables. Also, analytica USA will be accompanied by a scientific conference with presentations, including three plenary lectures, and posters. Topics include liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry.
Here, Susanne Grödl, Exhibition Director of analytica USA, discusses with IBO the details of the show. The transcript has been edited for clarity.
Why did Messe München choose this year to bring analytica to the US?
The booming laboratory market and inquiries from many US exhibitors asking us to bring analytica to the USA led to the decision to bring the world’s leading trade fair for the laboratory industry to the USA. The date also fits perfectly into the calendar of other international trade fairs of analytica and, above all, into the schedule for analytica in Munich next year.
What will be unique about analytica USA compared to other US trade shows?
The three-part trade fair concept with an exhibition, scientific conference and practice-oriented supporting program is unique in the laboratory industry. Over the years, Messe München has continually developed analytica in dialogue with the trade community so that analytica has become the hub of the international laboratory industry.
With over 250 exhibitors from 17 countries, analytica USA brings together the global players and top-tier providers in laboratory technology. Leading manufacturers such as Agilent, Analytik Jena, Brightspec, Caron Scientific, Fritsch, Hamilton, Köttermann, Lauda, Merck Millipore, Mettler Toledo, Netzsch, PerkinElmer, Shimadzu, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Waters, Xylem and so forth will present their latest innovations.
International experts will demonstrate sustainable solutions in fields of application, such as environment, energy and water, food, drug discovery, pharma, medicine, material sciences, industrial research, quality assurance and audit trail requirements. From laboratory planning to detailed analysis, analytica will cover the entire laboratory value chain. analytica USA will showcase what next-generation scientists need.
As a science-oriented component of analytica, the analytica conference bridges the gap between research and application. The conference program covers the entire spectrum of analytics. One can look forward to presentations and discussions on current trends at the Exhibitor Forum.
In addition, analytica has developed a unique Live Lab show program as part of the exhibition, which will be launched for the first time in the USA. analytica USA will keep attendees updated on the latest trends and innovations.
analytica USA offers three exclusive practice-oriented shows alongside the exhibition: Live Lab, Digital Transformation and the Lab Safety Show.
Live Lab and Digital Transformation: Lab experts will demonstrate live experiments from sample preparation to analysis and evaluation based on various applications from the research fields of food, pharma, chiral separations, biotechnology and cell cultivation. In addition, specialists will show how intelligent automation and connected workflows are set to transform laboratory operations.
Lab Safety Show: Understanding how to stay safe is crucial for everyday work in the lab. Live demonstrations provide practical advice and actionable tips to help you implement the best safety practices.
This way, best of all, the accompanying program is included with a visitor’s ticket.
For attendees of other analytica conferences, what will be new to the US show?
As the leading trade fair for a highly innovative industry with many current developments of various kinds, we want to provide the US industry with easy access to the latest technical possibilities and solutions. This helps shorten the time to market and accelerate problem solving. The challenge for us is to curate the truly relevant topics and to communicate them in the most understandable way in the US market.
analytica premieres in the USA and offers for the first time in this context a unique show program with the three exclusive practice-oriented special shows alongside the exhibition.
You can experience firsthand how the technologies showcased at the exclusive analytica Live Lab are making the laboratory world a little bit better. Get some inspiration for problem solving in your lab from the live experiments presented! In the Live Lab, throughout the entire value chain of analytics pioneering solutions and newest devices in sample preparation, separation sciences, chromatography; mass spectrometry; biotechniques; measurement, particle characterization, microscopy and imaging, automation and digital transformation, as well as laboratory supplies, will be presented.
For laboratory decision-makers, the focus is on future topics that are relevant to the operations of a laboratory. Laboratory users will receive valuable tips and innovations for working in the laboratory through the practice-oriented accompanying program.
Why did Messe München choose Columbus, Ohio, as the location of the show?
Good accessibility within the USA with short flight times was important. Half of the US population can reach the airport with a two-hour flight. Also, it is just eight miles from the airport to the convention center. So Columbus is the perfect location for exhibitors with reasonable prices for the exhibition grounds.
In addition, Columbus is characterized by a good industry environment with 250 food and beverage manufacturers (e.g., Nestlé and Abbott Nutrition), semiconductor companies (Intel and Tosoh), automotive manufacturing (650,000 cars are produced in the area), and also aerospace, pharmaceutical and energy companies. Not to be forgotten are the universities, such as the Center for Life Sciences Education at Ohio State University, the Battelle Memorial Institute and various labs in the greater Columbus area.
In general, what are the keys to a successful lab equipment trade show?
Good coverage of the exhibition portfolio, key accounts and a user-oriented program that provides visitors with benefits for their daily and future work in the laboratory are the crucial prerequisites for a successful lab trade show.
Meeting our exhibitors personally and having fun at this event is very important to us.
analytica, with its exhibitors’ offerings, the analytica Conference, and a unique, inspiring, practice-oriented accompanying program, supports visitors in making the right decisions for a successful future.
It’s particularly important to me that analytica offers a business platform where exhibitors can exchange ideas with laboratory users but also where manufacturers can network with each other to initiate joint collaborations. This will become increasingly important in the future.
IBO’s coverage of analytica USA will appear in our October 2 issue.
