Accelrys Lays Off 12% of Workforce
The actions will be reflected in Accelrys’s third quarter GAAP results, according to the company’s third quarter conference call. In the call, the company stated that the layoffs will affect both US- and UK-based employees.
San Diego, CA 7/31/13; Washington, DC 7/31/13—Accelrys has announced that it will reduce its workforce by approximately 80 employees, or 12%, as part of a restructuring program to reduce costs and realign operations to focus on growth opportunities. The program includes the abandonment of a portion of one of the company’s facilities in San Ramon, California. Approximately 40 positions will be filled in different capacities or locations. The company expects to incur charges of $6.1–$7.5 million related to the action. The actions are expected to be completed by March 31, 2014. (For Accelrys’s quarterly results, see page 12).
