Affinity Chromatography Provider Changes Hands

Halle (Saale), Germany 2/3/17—UV-Cap, a German private equity fund, has acquired protein engineering firm Scil Proteins from Bionet Ventures. Scil Proteins has been renamed Navigo Proteins. Navigo Proteins’ Navigo Precision Capturing business unit provides affinity chromatography products for biomanufacturing. The Navigo Precision Targeting unit supplies target carriers for diagnostics, imaging and therapeutic applications. “This is a natural next growth step in the evolution and value creation strategy for our business,” stated Navigo Proteins CEO Henning Afflerbach. “UV-Cap’s global industry network and in-depth knowledge of the biopharmaceutical sector will further support our mission to provide novel targeted molecules for use in both precision medicine and biomanufacturing.”

Navigo Protein offers affinity chromatography products based on its Affinity ligands, whose advantages include high selectivity and stability, low cost and the ability to be easily engineered. Last year, the company entered into an agreement combining Affinity ligands with Natrix’s hydrogel membranes.
