VWR Buys Biorespository Company

Radnor, PA 3/22/17—VWR, a provider of products and services to lab and production customers, has acquired EPL Archives. Financial details were not disclosed. A biorepository services organization, EPL Archives supports pharmaceutical customers throughout the regulated research, development and commercialization lifecycle. Its services include sample archiving, document storage and ancillary services. “Their portfolio of services will greatly complement VWR’s current service offering, as a part of VWRCATALYST, allowing us to better serve our customers in achieving their goals by ensuring compliant storage of research, manufacturing and clinical trial materials,” commented VWR President and CEO Manuel Brocke-Benz.

EPL Archives’ services include nonclinical archiving, clinical biorespository and biobanking, management of regulation data, storage of manufacturing material, and specialized logistics and support. According to a January 2017 company presentation, services account for 4% of VWR revenues. The acquisition will increase VWR’s portfolio of specialized services for pharmaceutical customers, which will now include EPL Archives’ facilities in the US and France, and the company’s LabTrak enterprise material-management system.
