Company Announcements
Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation announced that under a partnership with Imdex and Olympus, its Deep Exploration Technologies Cooperative Research Centre developed Lab-at-Rig technology, which allows for the chemistry and mineralogy of drill-hole rocks to be analyzed within minutes of drilling. REFLEX, a division of Imdex, a mining technology firm, will commercialize the technology.
In November 2015, Applied Rigaku Technologies named Koehler Instrument as a global distributor of its benchtop ED-XRF elemental analysis products to the petroleum industry.
XRF Scientific announced in November 2015 a share purchase agreement for Socachim, one of its distributors. Based in Belgium, Socachim distributes XRF Scientific’s products in Europe and Northern Africa.
XRF Scientific will open a new office in Germany in April, expanding its operations in Europe.
Oxford Instruments announced in December 2015 that it brought ICP-OES US support in house, ending an exclusive partnership with its US distributor.
In January, Eurocontrol Technics named Doron Reinis, CEO of its Xenemetrix subsidiary, as COO.
Product Introductions
HORIBA Scientific introduced the Ultra Fast Depth Profiling TOFMS, a plasma profiling TOF-MS that provides chemical composition as a function of the depth of solid materials.
Bruker launched in fall 2015 the EOS 500 handheld LIBS systems, featuring an air-flow optics shield. It covers wavelengths of 170–720 nm.
Teledyne CETAC Technologies introduced the MVX-17100 µL Workstation, a sample introduction system for ICP-MS, supporting sample volumes as low as 5 µL. It includes an autosampler, syringe pumps, temperature control, a six-port valve and automation software.
StellarNet and Kigre introduced the PORTA-LIBS-2000, a portable analyzer featuring two spectrometers. Up to eight spectrometers can be attached.
In December 2015, STOE & Cie launched the cost effective, modular STADI P ESSENTIALS, a one-circle powder diffractometer for capillary measurements.
In January, Shimadzu released the Xslicer SMX-6000 microfocus x-ray inspection system for nondestructive inspections. It is the first Shimadzu system to include inclined fluoroscopy and CT imaging functionalities in a single package.
SPECTRO Analytical Instruments introduced a new line of SPECTRO XEPOS spectrometers for ED-XRF, including four predefined configurations, featuring greater sensitivity and faster measurements.
Katanax, a SPEX SamplePrep company, released the X-300 fusion fluxer for electric fusion.
